Longines act like scammers instead of a prestigious watch maker.

Now I understand why the Swiss watch industry was brought to its knees when the Japanese started making watches in the 1970s.

I bought a Longines in 2012 which has only worked about 50% of its life. Every time that it needs a battery, which is quite often for an expensive Swiss watch, Longines take many weeks to get back to me (they cannot change the battery immediately at the shop like other brands, they have to send it to the brand!), and then always with the same "repair" quote.

I swear that it's a copy and paste quote, always the same price.

Of course, that quote is the same value as what I originally paid for it. I have managed to get independent shops to replace the batteries, and it has worked perfectly fine.

Longine's actions are more like the actions of scammers, not of a prestigious/luxury Swiss watch brand.

My next purchase will be a Japanese watch.

Duty Free Fail

Longines - Duty Free Fail

Dear Sir or Madam,

Last month, when I traveled to Switzerland, I brought 2 Longines watch from Zermatt Switzerland on May 29, 2023. In the store, the Longines team - Cascione Dominga, completed a fast refund form for me.

On June 15, 2023 at Zurich Airport, I got a stamp from customs and turn in to refund service for mailing. When I came back to US, I checked my bank account, this tax ($328.62) was refunded on May 31, but today the Global Blue Tax Free recharged this amount.

I called the credit card company and they couldn't find the Global Blue Tax Free contact number and suggested me to file a dispute for this charge. Would you please help me to solve my problem, I had the original receipt and a copy of tax refund form with me, if you need them, please let me know, thanks.

Watch purchased in May 2021 stopped keeping time in October 2021 - worn 5 times due to working from home for 2 years. I'm now being charged to repair the watch! AND a 10 week wait! I'm so unhappy with my choice to buy Longines - waited and saved to buy a $2500 watch and after a few months this. Do not buy Longines. I am so unhappy with this service.

I was thrilled to get a beautiful Longines watch as a gift in December 2019. It worked fine for about a year.

Then in March 2021 it just stopped working. I sent it to Longines for repair, and waited to hear from them. Four weeks later, still no word, despite emailing them, so I called. They told me they didnt have my email address, which was nonsense, since they had sent me robo-emails before in response to my queries.

I got the watch back at the end of April, and it seemed to be working fine.

One day I removed it to exercise, and when I went to put it back on, the watch just fell away from the strap! Upon closer inspection, I discovered that whoever had done the repairs had neglected to put the screws back in! So I could have lost the watch just walking down the street.

Not wanting to deal with a long wait time again (come to think of it, maybe thats why theyre called LONGines - because everything takes so long). I took it to a local jeweler who replaced the screws.

I am very disappointed, both in the poor quality of the watch, the lack of responsiveness, and the dreadful service.

I imagined the Longines name to be synonymous with quality and longevity.

Alas, these days it merely stands for mediocrity. Sad but true.

Poor support from Longines and faulty product

i bought my Longines watch in 2015. within six months, it was stopping for no apparent reason several times in a week, then working perfectly for a few months, then stopping again. If i pushed the crown in gently, it seemed to get started again. I sent it back to be repaired under warranty, and it came back, but within six months, the same problem developed. Sent back again for repair in 2018 £150, but yes, the same issue started again this year. Longines have stoutly said there is no problem with the watch or its components, this time charging me £200 and are alleging "external influence", whatever that means. It was an expensive present, meant to be my forever watch, but it has never worked properly, and their attitude stinks. Will never buy longines again

I bought a new watch on September 20, 2019 from Abu Dhabi duty free. Please see the warranty card. The watch runs approximately 2 minutes in 3 days. This is decently not expected from Longines. Advise me what I should do. I stay at Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

From the first month of ownership, the longines watch needed a new battery and has had 6 battery replacements in 5 years. Longines offered to diagnose the problem, then said there was no issue with the watch and then charged me $80. It’s been 1 year since then and the watch has stopped again. Longines refuse to acknowledge the problem.

Need repairs

I am the proud owner of a Longines automatic wrist watch given to me on 5-28-58 by my then girlfriend, now wife of 60 plus years for my college graduation. T self winding aspect no longer works and my watchmaker friend says he cannot get parts. Arthritis restricts my ability to manually wind the watch and I would like to get it fixed. I love the watch and the sentiment attached. Can anyone help me?

On 27/03/2017, I bought a Longines stainless steel ladies watch with diamonds on it (ref L4.309.5.88.7 no 4544****) from your Perth store. The watch began to lose time at an increasing rate from March 2018 onwards. I returned the watch to the Perth store in December as it was by then losing far too much and too inconsistently to even guess the time. Even resetting it weekly was not satisfactory. From the Perth store, the watch was sent away to be repaired. It was returned to me in January 2019 and at that time I noticed it was gaining 20 seconds a day instead of losing. The rate of gain has increased rapidly so that now it is gaining approximately 3 minutes per day. This is entirely unacceptable.

Your agents in Dubai City Centre were the most great when selling me two Longines but after two years and one month my watch stopped and I took it to the Rivoli in Deira City Centre dubai. They gave me first a run about and than sent to to the Wafi mall most disappointing service as they want to charge me 2200. Dirhams to repair the watch and 21 days. They refused to replace the battery saying one screw has broke. I have been wearing a Longines for fifteen years and decided to buy a new one but this is the most disappointing purchase in my life. A professional watch repair charged 93 dirhams and the watch is working. Why charge me 2200. Dirhams. ? !!! Very sad

I sent my 1975 admiral to them for repair. The stem had come out, that’s all. After several weeks they said they could do nothing. They said they would exchange my old watch for a discount on a new Longines, but not send back my original. I Told them no, my watch had sentmantal value and please send back. They did send it back for $75 fee. When I got it home the crystal fell off my watch and inside fell out, but the watch started to work. So I took it to a local watch repair and he connected stem and said all it needed was cleaned and the crystal fell out because it was not the correct size. Longines sent me my watch back with a different crystal! They either broke, lost, or kept it. The watch repair person mine said mine was pristine and museum quality...no wonder Longines wanted to keep for an exchange

March of 2017 I bought a Longines. Recently it has started gaining time, about a minute a day! Took it back to where I bought it, it is under warranty. Sure they will send it in minimum 8 weeks before they will even tell me if the warranty covers it (I am sure they will decide it does not). My past watches, from other makers have been far less expensive and NEVER BROKE. Given the cost of this watch I expected, and deserve, better. Never again. Do not buy a Longines. Not worth it, poor quality, terrible service.

Longines - Slim Line Silver Watch Review

Bought a longines watch dec 2014. After a few months started to go slow ao in forcrepair 8 weeks. Got it back and after few months yet again going slow so *** for 8 weeks for repair. Got back few months and yes missed my train as going sliw so back again. This time i said i want it replaced but they have said because looks fine to them they eont do anything and i will get it back. Explained when you reset time ots ok for a couple of months before goes slow again but they wouldnt liaten. I bought it at chisolm huntera and they would not help so now stuck with faulty expensive watch as longines wont keep their warrantybpeomise and chisolm hunters coildnt caee less! Anyone any advice? Goingvto right to consumer rights

HORRIBLE WARRANTY

My husband's watch stopped after less than a year of use. We took it to authorized repair center. Haven't heard back for over 2 weeks. When called, they were very rude and couldn't find our watch. Later, they emailed me estimate for repair with comment that whatever was broken wasn't covered by our warranty because watch had some scratches. What do they expect , if it's been worn daily for almost a year? In this case nothing will be covered by the warranty because worn watch just can't look like brand new one!!! Estimated cost of repair is almost 20% of the original price. Very upsetting :-(
